Chronological Bible Readings

1 Samuel 22:8 Is that why you have conspired against me? For not one of you told me when my own son made a solemn pact with the son of Jesse. You’re not even sorry for me. Think of it! My own son—encouraging him to kill me, as he is trying to do this very day!”

Now we see a lie that is really a sin. It is to defile the name and turn people against David and his son. A lie that comes from a heart set on evil.

Psalm 52:1 Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior?

    Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever?

2 All day long you plot destruction.

    Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor;

    you’re an expert at telling lies.

3 You love evil more than good

    and lies more than truth.

I love reading chronologically. It gives so much more depth and meaning to the psalms. When I read these words it as though David is talking to Saul. David is not there to hear and see all that Saul is saying and doing but God inspired David to write truths in this song. David knew Saul well enough that he probably wasn't surprised by these truths. As he wrote them, he knew they are were truth. He speaks of Saul's evil heart. His lies and pursuit of destruction.
