April 17, 2024 -I Don't Get It

Joshua 15:1-63

Luke 18:18-43

Psalm 86:1-17

Proverbs 13:9-10

Luke 18:31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32 He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; 33 they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”

34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

This has always puzzled me. How could the disciples have heard Jesus say all these things so plainly and not understand an of it? I found the below sermon and it makes sense to me. The disciples didn't understand the gospel. They heard it many times but they didn't understand it because they had not been converted. They still didn't get it. No one understood the gospel until after Jesus was resurrected. They then had a personal experience with Jesus and that is when they were converted. Before Jesus' resurrection the enemy the king of this world was able to block their understanding but in Jesus' death and resurrection He defeated sin and death. And He came to live in the through the Holy Spirit. Then it all made sense. I am not going to cover all the details of this sermon because I would like you to read the sermon and share your thoughts.

I am keeping this short today because I would like you to read the sermon and share you thoughts.
