April 27, 2024 - Victory and Promised Land

Judges 7:1-8:17

Luke 23:13-43

Psalm 97:1-98:9

Proverbs 14:7-8

Judges 7:2 The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’

Again, if we think we can do it on our own strength we will not give the glory to God. When we feel small and outnumbered, we need to trust Him! In this world I often feel outnumbered by those who don't know Jesus. People who fight against all that is godly and proper. It is very tempting to feel defeated. It gives me strength and hope when I read God's word. We see over and over again that we are not the ones who battle the enemy but God Himself fights for us. When we are outnumbered it is in order for us to remember that it is God who saves us not ourselves.

Judges 7:20 The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” 21 While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.

When they were obedient and did things just a God had told them to, they were victorious. Being in God's word is the best way for us to hear what God is telling us to do as well as remind us of His faithfulness.

Psalm 98:3 He has remembered his love

    and his faithfulness to Israel;

all the ends of the earth have seen

    the salvation of our God.

He had promised the Israelites victory and to bring them into the promised land and He was faithful. He has also promised those who trust in Jesus victory and to bring us into the promised land with Him. How I long for the time when we will no longer be in a battle against all that opposes God and be face to face with Jesus so lets...

Psalm 98:4 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,

    burst into jubilant song with music;

make music to the Lord with the harp,

    with the harp and the sound of singing,

with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—

    shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
