Ruth 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth into his home, and she became his wife. When he slept with her, the Lord enabled her to become pregnant, and she gave birth to a son.

Ruth has a son to carry on the family name of her husband so it is like it is a son to her mother-in-law Naomi as well. The Lord blessed both Jew and Gentile with the birth of a baby boy. But not just this Jew and Gentile.

Ruth 4:16 Naomi took the baby and cuddled him to her breast. And she cared for him as if he were her own. 17 The neighbor women said, “Now at last Naomi has a son again!” And they named him Obed. He became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David.

This baby boy is in the line David and therefore the line of Jesus. Jesus whose birth offers His blessed salvation to Jew and Gentile alike. Everyone who is born again into His family, the family of the Son, is also the child of the Father. Our Daddy, who cuddles us to his breast and cares for us as His own. The neighbor women in my mind are like the angels in heaven who rejoice every time that a lost sinner is reborn into the family of God.
