August 10, 2024 -What He Deserves

EZREA 10:1-44

1 CORINTHIANS 6:1-20

PSALMS 31:9-18

PROVERBS 21:3

1Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

I we think of our bodies belonging to God I think it would make a difference in all our decisions that affect our bodies. Not just sexually but everything. From eating, drinking, exercise, and rest to brushing and flossing our teeth. Not that not brushing your teeth is a sin against your body like sexual immorality is but if we think about the price that Jesus paid for our bodies then we should want to care for it not just avoid sinning against it.

Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Shouldn't we care for it as He deserves?

Proverbs 21:3 To do what is right and just

is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

For the Israelites they offered sacrifices for the forgiveness of their sins, but those sacrifices were meaningless without the right heart and mind set on God. If your heart and mind are right you will do what is right and just. So, when struggling with a sin whether it is a sin against your body or some other sin the battle begins in the heart and mind. Instead of trying to stop sinning of your own power and strength turn your thoughts to the word of God. Seek truths from Him and allow the Spirit who lives in you to change your heart. This is another place where the first step is being willing. Open your hands and look to Christ because if you are looking at Him you are not looking at the temptations around you. Does He not deserve our focus that we might do what is acceptable and pleasing to Him? After all He already paid the price and was the sacrifice for us all.

“If you are looking at Him you are not looking at the temptations around you.” This resonated deeply within me.
