December 25, 2024 -Christmas in Revelation

ZECHARIAH 8:1-23

REVELATION 16:1-21

PSALM 144:1-15

PROVERBS 30:29-31

Revelation 16:17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!”

When I read this I thought of Jesus crucifixion. Maybe it is because I have been encouraging others to remember what Christmas is about. I have said a few times in the last couple of days to tell people to look at the baby Jesus on the cross or in front of the cross or along with the cross. To remember that the birth of Jesus is only the beginning of the story. At the end of Jesus story as a human, Jesus God in the flesh spoke with His limited human mouth from the cross. "It is finished". Here at the end of the story of time on this earth the voice of God comes from the throne and says it is done.

Revelation 16:18Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake.

At the death of Jesus on the cross the earth quaked and everything went dark. At the end of time we read of the greatest ever earthquake.

Revelation 16:19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.

At the crucifixion the curtain of the temple was split showing that the divide between God and man is defeated. Here we see that the great city is split into 3 parts showing that the enemy is defeated. In the study of the book "The Story" which is the story of the bible from Genesis to Revelation written as one continuous story. The writer talks about the upper story and the lower story. The lower story is what is going on here on earth and in everything that is happening here on earth there is something greater happening in the heavenly realm, the upper story. As you read Revelation don't just think about what might be happening in the lower story but what might being on in the upper story as well

Who would have thought you can find Christmas in Revelation. The end of the lower and the upper story and a new beginning as we are going to live the upper story.
