February 12, 2024 - Seek Wisdom to Let His Light Shine

Exodus 34:1-35:9

Matthew 27:15-31

Psalm 33:12-22

Proverbs 9:1-6

Exodus 34:2 Be ready in the morning to climb up Mount Sinai and present yourself to me on the top of the mountain. No one else may come with you. In fact, no one is to appear anywhere on the mountain. Do not even let the flocks or herds graze near the mountain.”

This time when Moses is called to go up the mountain no one else is allowed to be anywhere near the mountain. Another example of how sin separated a person from being able to get close to God.

Exodus 34:35 and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord.

Only Moses was allowed to come into God's presence. But Jesus has made it possible for us to come into God's presence. When we do that, it should change us in visible ways so that when we leave our time with Him and go about our days, we shine the light of Jesus so brightly that it is noticeable to other. It should be so bright that it makes some people uncomfortable. And the beautify thing is that the light of Jesus does not need to be veiled. In fact, it should not be veiled. Even when it makes someone else uncomfortable because we don't know how God can use that uncomfortable feeling for His glory. We should rejoice in being able to shine like Jesus to this dark and weary world.

Matthew 27:28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him. 29 They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!” 30 And they spit on him and grabbed the stick and struck him on the head with it. 31 When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.

When we are tempted to veil that light and keep it hidden we should remember all that Jesus has done for us. All that He suffered physically tortured and killed. Emotionally overwhelmed to the point of sweating blood. Personally condemned criticized and ridiculed. Spiritually separated from the Father for the first time ever. He took on all the sins of every person who will ever put their faith in Him. Do you think that means the depth of the separation that He felt was equal to depth of separation for every one of those believers also. Imagine the spiritual pain that had to cause Him. So the next time you are tempted to veil your light for whatever unworthy reason you might have, ask yourself if what you are afraid of can even come close to what Jesus suffered for you. I know that I catch myself holding back saying things and doing things that would bring Jesus into my day because I am not sure if I should. But I am thinking that if I thought it and it does not conflict with Jesus teachings than I need to act. Whatever lame excuse I have for not doing it is nothing in light of what Jesus has suffered for me. Who cares if what I say or do causes someone to criticize me or threaten me in some way. Who cares if the thing that I am called to do might make me or someone else uncomfortable or be inconvenient for me. Lord remind me of the depth of your love and what you have done when I am tempted to veil the light of the Spirit that you have so graciously given me. Give me wisdom to make decision that are pleasing to you each and every day.

Psalms 33:15 He made their hearts,

so he understands everything they do.

 Wisdom has built her house;

she has carved its seven columns.

She has prepared a great banquet,

mixed the wines, and set the table.

She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come.

She calls out from the heights overlooking the city.

From my Prime Time with God daily prayer email today.

Good morning Toni, here is today's prayer...

Dear Father God,

Each day I make countless decisions.

Some are big decisions, most are small.

Please help me to approach each choice with Your wisdom and to turn to You in prayer for guidance.

I ask for Your wisdom today...

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

Please remind me to reach out for counsel to those who have Your wisdom and whom I can trust so that they can advise me and help to keep me close to You and to Your path for my life.

Please open my eyes and guide me by You Holy Spirit when I am making decisions.

I pray that You will illuminate Your path ahead of me.

I want to have a holy reverence for You, what Your Holy Bible calls "the fear of the Lord"...

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

Thank You for watching over me and for loving me.

Bless You, my Lord.

In the strong name Jesus I pray,

Amen.

Amen, Amen and Amen
