Leviticus 7:28-9:6
Mark 3:31-4:25
Psalm 37:12-29
Proverbs 10:5
. 6 Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the Lord may appear to you.”
As Moses is an Old Testament picture of Jesus I read these words as "Then [Jesus] said, 'This is what the Lord has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the Lord may appear to you.'"
Jesus has given us many instructions of what we are to do. We are to live according to His teaching. If we want the glory of the Lord to be revealed to us that is what we need to do. As I spend time this Sabbath in the word and seeking His face He reminds me of the need to surrender to Him and to consecrate myself to Him.
35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
I want to do God's will but so not always succeed. I just told Dave on the way to church that I no longer think I can play a game that is well loved by some family and friends when we get together. It was being played last night and I joined in a little uncomfortably because of the crudeness of the content. But as I played the more comfortable I got with it. Today I am feeling convicted and understanding Paul's words in Romans seven.
19 For I don’t do the good thing I want to do, but I end up doing the evil thing I don’t want to do. 20 So if I do what I don’t want to do, it’s no longer “I" doing it; it’s sin, living inside me.
And in church today much of the music spoke to my heart and brought me to a focused praise and heart of worship. The last song "Come Thou Font of Every Blessing" was a reminder to turn it all over to Him and consecrate myself to Him. I am so grateful for His grace. These words were a prayer for me.
Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, oh take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
