February 28, 2024 - Shut Your Mouth and Listen Even if You Don't Like What You Hear

Leviticus 22:17-23:44

Mark 9:30-10:12

Psalm 44:1-8

Proverbs 10:19

Mark 9:32 They didn’t understand what he was saying, however, and they were afraid to ask him what he meant.

Sometimes we think we should understand something but we don't and in order to no look stupid we just don't ask. Especially if it sounds like something we don't think we would like. The things Jesus told them were not things that they would want to happen. I wonder if they didn't understand because they wanted it to be something different?

Mark 9:49 “For everyone will be tested with fire. 50 Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? You must have the qualities of salt among yourselves and live in peace with each other.”

Living at peace with one another can be difficult. I am currently feeling a little salty in a bad way about some things in the church. I know God has been talking to me about being Christ-like and being different. He as even used this verse for that purpose a few days ago on a radio program. I was trying to keep that in mind when I was in communication about these things before finishing my reading and writing this. I pray that I have not said or done anything that would dishonor God. I know that my response is emotional and I pray that keeping Him in my sites will help me to respond rationally with love and concern and not anger, hurt feelings or condemnation.

Proverbs 10:19 Too much talk leads to sin.

Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.

And now I hear that I have said enough. So, I will shut my mouth and trust God.
