January 10, 2024 - Praise AND Worship

Genesis 23:1-24:51

Matthew 8:1-17

Psalm 9:13-20

Proverbs 3:1-6

26 Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, 27 saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives.”

With our women's conference "Armed With Praise" being just around the corner I have been praying for God to give me some scripture verses to use for my message regarding what is praise. One thing that I am seeing is that Praise is part of worship and when we praise Him with all our hearts, not just our words, then it should lead to worship. This is why we usually see Praise and Worship together.

Abraham's servant came to believe in God because of Abraham and the example he set by his life following God. Now we see that the servant came to know God personally when he turned to God and sought His help. That personal experience of God made him praise him and he was brought to worship him.

When we turn to God and experience Him personally it will give us reason to praise Him and that praise should bring us to a state of worship due to our personal experience of God. So I would think that if you struggle with being able to praise and worship God then seek to experience Him in a personal way. Turn to Him in prayer trust Him with things that you would want to hold onto yourself and watch how He handles it. Just like Abraham's servant you will experience His

greatness and sovereignty. Then you will have something personal to praise and worship Him for.
