July 23, 2024 -No Need to Tread Water

2 CHRONICLES 8:11-10:19

ROMANS 8:9-25

PSALM 18:16-36

PROVERBS 19:26

Psalms 18:16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me;

    he drew me out of deep waters.

We are living in a world of deep waters. We are constantly surrounded by evil, sickness, stress, distractions, and problems because we live in a sinful and broken world. Sometimes it feels like we are just treading water, and when we have been doing it for so long on our own we will lose the fight and start to drown. But we don't have to do it alone. We don't ever have to get to the point of drowning in the troubles of this world as long as we don't try to do it ourselves. Because God can and will reach down and take hold us and pull us out of the deep waters.

Psalm 18:19 He brought me out into a spacious place;

    he rescued me because he delighted in me.

He can bring us to a spacious place of His peace.

Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect:

    The Lord’s word is flawless;

    he shields all who take refuge in him.

It doesn't mean that the deep waters go away. We are still in the world and in this world there will be trouble. (John 16:33) But when we walk in the presence of the Lord (If you haven't read yesterday make sure you do) and allow Him to remove us from the deep water and put us in a spacious place we will be doing things in God's way. His perfect way. We will be walking in discipleship and adjusting our lives as we learn from His word which is flawless and he will be our shield and refuge and so much more.

Psalm 18:32 It is God who arms me with strength

    and keeps my way secure.

33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;

    he causes me to stand on the heights.

34 He trains my hands for battle;

    my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35 You make your saving help my shield,

    and your right hand sustains me;

    your help has made me great.

36 You provide a broad path for my feet,

    so that my ankles do not give way.

Spacious place…profound if you think about it. When we are down trodden we make our world small, our spirit goes faint within us. We socialize less, talk less, move less church less, pray less and the list goes on and on. By less we live in a small place, God becomes small and we tuck him away in a a hidden corner of our heart.

But oh….when he brings us out in His spacious place…if only we let him.

Hands up, arms spread in praise. Feet moving to broaden His kingdom. Smiles abound, praise abounds, love abounds. His spacious place moves our…
