When I read the first couple of verses of the Psalm, I thought that this could be written as a prayer for someone who needs victory over something. So, I think I am going to give it a try below. The column to the left is the Psalm I bolded the parts that would be word for word from the Psalm. The right column is where I wrote the other sections into a prayer.
Psalm 20
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices May he remember all the things you have
and accept your burnt offerings. surrendered to him and accept your offerings of
4 May he give you the desire of your heart time money and service
and make all your plans succeed.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
6 Now this I know: Now this I know, the Lord gives victory to those
The Lord gives victory to his anointed. who trust in him and he will answer you from his
