July 9, 2024 -Stormy Weather

1 CHRONICLES 7:1-8:40

ACTS 27:1-20

PSALM 7:1-17

PROVERBS 18:22

Acts 27:20 When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.

Psalm 7:1 Lord my God, I take refuge in you;

    save and deliver me from all who pursue me,

or they will tear me apart like a lion

    and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

The last verse in the New Testament reading and the first verses in the Psalm go so well together. Sometimes the storms in life seem to last forever and be too much to bear. It feels like the battle is lost as we are pursed by the enemy and the attack is relentless like a lion with it's prey. At those time when it feel like there is nothing we can do we need to remember that maybe we don't have to do anything. Our refuge is in the Lord. He can calm the storm if the storm is to be calmed. If it is not to be calmed He can bring you through it and protect you from your pursuers. Sometime the struggle is just what we need to get us where we need to be. As you read Paul's journey prior to this storm notice all the things that happened that would show him that he is exactly where God needs him to be. If we can trust that to be true we can find refuge in the Lord even in the struggles.
