Numbers 16:41-18:32
Mark 16:1-20
Psalm 55:1-23
Proverbs 11:7
Psalm 55:4 My heart is in anguish within me;
the terrors of death have fallen on me.
5 Fear and trembling have beset me;
horror has overwhelmed me.
Even David a man after God's own heart experienced anguish, terrors, fears, and been overwhelmed with trembling and horror. Being strong in faith does not mean that we will never experience anguish over pain, suffering, anxiety, and fear. As we just read yesterday even Jesus experienced anguish over the situation He was in. So much anguish that He sweat blood. Even He turned to the Father and expressed His desire for the cap to be taken from Him.
Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
Once Jesus prayed not my will but yours be done, everything changed. Cam always said that He "put His game face on". His demeanor changed from anguish to confidence and He could not be shaken. The Father sent an angel to strengthen Him and sustain Him. David also turns to the Father. He cast His cares on the Lord and he calls us to do the same. When we are in anguish we can also cast our cares on the Lord and also pray not my will but yours be done and really mean it. When we do He will sustain us and we will not be shaken. We can put on our game face and stand in the confidence of His will.
I really had to put my game face on lately and I’m so glad I did. Especially yesterday, when it was just Jesus and I that walked into that breast care center for the mammogram, and I had not one fear, anxious moment or trembling as the night before I prayed you will be done amen and amen and amen
