March 19, 2024 - Rest in the Lord!

Numbers 28:16-29:40

Luke 3:23-38

Psalm 62:1-12

Proverbs 11:18-19

Psalm 62:1 Truly my soul finds rest in God;

    my salvation comes from him.

Truly he is my rock and my salvation;

    he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

When I read words like these I am filled with such peace and joy that I can't explain. So often we look to things and people of this world to save us and to protect us. Our sermon this past Sunday was about the marriage passage in Ephesians so I have that on my mind as I write today. I used to think it was my husband's job to make me happy and to give me rest. But now I recognize that the only husband whose arms I can truly rest in are the arms of Jesus. He is the only one that can save me, give me strength and protect me. As his bride I can never be shaken.

Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times, you people;

    pour out your hearts to him,

    for God is our refuge.

Even though other people in our lives will let us down and disappoint us including our spouse, parents, siblings and friends, we can trust in our Lord to never let us down. He is our refuge and strength and we can trust in him at all times. We can pour our hearts out to Him for all things. And not just the big things. They were talking on K-Love this morning about "silly" prayers. Prays that we might think are silly or unimportant but God still hears them and answers them. He always has time to listen and always cares about how you feel.

Below are some additional thoughts I had about Jesus as my husband that I had shared on Facebook when I saw this picture after the sermon.
