Proverbs 11:24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
25 A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
26 People curse the one who hoards grain,
but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
When I said I was looking for direction on March 20th and when I didn't get it I had to make a decision that was the most biblical it was about giving someone money. I did give it and today's Proverb gives me that confirmation that is what I should do. I am generally a generous person and when I give I don't worry about getting it back or what the person is doing with the money. But this situation made me wonder if someone else was being taken advantage of so I hesitated. In the end I know that this person is a firm believer who is very generous himself and I have to trust God that He is at work in allowing me to help someone bless someone else. I may need to give more soon and I thank God for this confirmation.
I feel I am a generous person, but…
I have a hard time giving to the same people/person over and over again. It seems they come to expect the generosity of others and don’t try to help themselves. As Algernon Sidney said, “God helps those that help themselves.” I’m a firm believer in that.
