March 26, 2024 - Paradise Restored Retained

Deuteronomy 5:1-6:25

Luke 7:11-35

Psalm 68:19-35

Proverbs 11:29-31

Deuteronomy 6:10 When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, 11 houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied, 12 be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

The blessing of abundance of provision and freedom from conflict is a recipe for forgetfulness of where those blessing have come from. We must continually remind ourselves in times of plenty that those blessing all come from God. We should remember all that He has done for us. All the things He has saved us from as He saved the Israelites from slavery in Egypt He has saved us from slavery to sin. And as He walked with them and protected them in all their trials and struggle in the desert we should remember all the trials and struggles that He has walked us through. By reviewing our history with God we can improve the chances that when things are going well we do not forget God who has made all things possible while we are here. We can also look at this life as being our time in the desert. We can be thankful for how He has brought us out of slavery from sin and how He is walking us through this life until He brings us into the promised of eternity with Him. When we are given our new life with Jesus on the new earth, we will still have free will so remembering all that God has done for us here and remembering how sin has corrupted this world we can make the choice to follow Him for eternity. We will live in a world free from sin "a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, 11 houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant". Unlike the Israelites there will be no enemy that we need to drive out. Everyone who is there will be people who believe in and follow Jesus so the sinful influence of those who do not believe will be removed and Satan will have no access. In remembering this life while living in a world that we are all of the same heart and mind and faith with direct access to God and no enemy to decieve us we will never want to do anything to separate us from Him. We can live in all truth. Therefore, Paradise will be restored, and it will be retained for eternity.
