May 7, 2024 - Right Time & Right Way

1 Samuel 1:1-2:21

John 5:1-23

Psalm 105:37-45

Proverbs 14:28-29

John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

The invalid was at a pagan shrine looking for healing. He was looking in the wrong place to be healed. I had always wondered why he didn't lay right next to the pool so all he had to do is roll into it as soon as it bubbled. I wonder if God had kept him from being able to make it into the water because He had something better in store for him.

When we pray for things and we are looking for ways for those things to be fulfilled, maybe we are looking in the wrong place. Maybe we are deciding what needs to happen instead of waiting for God to make it happen. This man waited a long time, but God knew the exact right moment and way to heal him. Not only was he restored physically but Jesus' healings were also spiritual healings. Also his healing was public and pointed others to Jesus. So don't get frustrated in your prayer. Pray and wait for God's timing and plan.
